Site Selection Criteria
Preferred:
- Be outside of the City core
- 0.75-2 acres in size
- Transit (eg public or shuttle)
- Hydro services
- Zoning that can support emergency shelter criteria
- Minimal impact to residential neighbourhood(s)
- No major environmental issues
- Available minimum 2 winters
Nice-to-Have:
- Site with minimal investment in time & money required to readily accommodate the homes
- Available more than 2 winters
- Property is already fenced in whole, or in part
- Existing structure available for use – utility source, washrooms etc
- Reasonable distance for wrap-around service providers
- Water & Sewage facilities available
- Natural landscape setting
